LEEN NGUYEN, LMSW

Integrative Trauma & Recovery Specialist

My therapeutic approach is both integrative and holistic - within my practice, you are understood wholly: mind, body, and spirit. I have experience working with crisis, trauma, and addiction which allows me to see my clients through a contextual and social lens. I am a firm proponent of the Person-in-Environment Theory, and I recognize the impact of trauma created by oppressive structures that is not ours to hold.

As a therapist, I offer a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic space to promote the transmutation of trauma into that which is positive and empowering. Together, we will collaborate and shift perspective through acknowledgment and understanding of what has brought us to this present point. We will learn to let go and un-learn that which is not ours and through the emphasis of grounding and acceptance will work towards stepping out of your comfort zone. My role as a therapist is to act as a source of compassion and empowerment in order to assist you to reach your full potential during your healing journey.

“It is my deep belief that in talking about the past, in understanding the things that have happened to us we can heal and go forward. Some people believe that it is best to put the past behind you, to never speak about the events that have happened that have hurt or wounded us, and this is their way of coping —but coping is not healing. By confronting the past without shame we are free of its hold on us.” - Bell Hooks
